Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has been linked with a move away from Anfield this summer.

The Slovakian defender has fallen out of favour with the new Reds manager Jurgen Klopp and will continue his career elsewhere.

Skrtel will complete his transfer to the Turkish giants Fenerbahce later this week according to Liverpool Echo.

The Turkish club’s president Aziz Yildirim told AMK Spor: “Van der Wiel and Skrtel transfers are almost done.”

Liverpool have already reached an agreement with Fenerbahce for a fee of around £5m and the personal terms should be sorted out soon.

His agent confirmed an offer from the Turkish outfit earlier this month.

The 31 year old defender has been atrocious for Liverpool over the last few seasons and the likes of Lovren and Gomez are all ahead of him in the pecking order.

Jurgen Klopp will be determined to improve his defence this summer and selling Skrtel would definitely be a good start for Liverpool.

Furthermore, Skrtel is on big wages and it would be wise to get him off the books.

The Reds have been linked with Bundesliga defenders Niklas Sule and Jonathan Tah.

They have already landed the Schalke centre back Joel Matip.

With Matip, Grujic, Karius and Mane signed already, Liverpool are now looking to begin their nine game pre-season schedule against Tranmere next month.
