Manchester United announced yesterday that they have agreed a deal with Juventus for the French midfielder Paul Pogba.
The former Old Trafford academy graduate was set to undergo his medical at the AON training complex yesterday and the move should be officially confirmed today.
Speaking to the media after Manchester United’s Community Shield victory, Jose Mourinho confirmed the deal and revealed his delight after signing a world class player. However, the Portuguese manager explained that Pogba is coming into a team that has won the FA Cup and Community shield in their last two competitive games and the Frenchman will have to work hard to get into the side.
“Finally,” said Mourinho.
“It’s amazing that such a good player is with us.”
“He comes to a winning side – a team who in their last two matches, have won the FA Cup and then also the trophy today. He has to work hard to get into the team.”
Manchester United defeated Leicester City 2-1 at Wembley yesterday to clinch their first silverware of the season.
Pogba is expected to cost around 100 million pounds and the Juventus midfielder will also become one of the club’s highest earners after signing his long term contract with the Red Devils. Pogba will become the most expensive player in the world once the transfer is confirmed.
The Premier League giants have beaten the likes of Real Madrid to his signature.
The powerful box-to-box midfielder is expected to be Mourinho’s final signing this summer. He has already signed the likes of Mkhitaryan, Ibrahimovic and Eric Bailly.
