Honduras 0-1 Chile
2010 FIFA World Cup
16 June 2010
Chile would get an opening win with a first half goal over Honduras in the opening match of Group H.
Chile were clearly the better side and had more possession and 22 shots overall (with 5 on goal). The goal would come in the 34th minute as combination of passes broke down the Honduran defense. The final pass was to Jean Beausejour in the box who flicked into the back of the net to give Chile the lead.
Honduras never really had a clear cut chance to score while Chile had a few opportunities in the second half. Neither team would convert any of them as it ended at 1-0 for Chile. The result puts the South Americans in great shape to win or at least get second in the group while Honduras has a tough road ahead.
