Hoffenheim sensation Roberto Firmino could be heading towards Manchester United in the summer. His agent recently confirmed that the attacking midfielder would be moving to the Premier League, although he didn’t mention any particular club.
The 23-year-old will cost United around €25-30m. Firmino is currently with his national team, Brazil, at the Copa America, where he was used as a sub in Brazil’s 2-1 victory over Peru.
The versatile playmaker can play in multiple positions, including behind the striker and on the left wing. Although Manchester United have signed Memphis Depay in the summer, Louis van Gaal may feel the need to further strengthen the side.
Hemerson Maria, his former coach at Figueirense said praised the midfielder, saying he is an incredibly gifted talent.
“He’s a kid with limited academic qualifications, but on the pitch he’s incredibly intelligent. The decisions he took, he learned the tactical part of the game really quickly. He was always a very complete player,” he said.
He was rejected by Sao Paulo, then went to Figueirense – where his value was finally recognized and he’s now an important player for Brazil. Firmino’s former team-mate called Bilu says the Brazilian was badly evaluated at São Paulo where didn’t train enough with the ball and wasn’t given the value he deserved.
