Real Madrid are considering reappointing Carlo Ancelotti as their new boss after Zinedine Zidane left his post.

According to reports from Spanish publication Marca, Ancelotti is now being linked with the vacant managerial post at Madrid. Madrid Extra tweeted yesterday:

Everton endured a disappointing campaign under Ancelotti in 2020-21, finishing 10th in the season. The Italian took the Everton job purely because it provides him with a different challenge.

He has earned tremendous success in his life, both as a player and a manager. The former AC Milan boss is already planning for the summer ahead, but the news of Madrid trying to bring him back to Bernabeu would upset the fan base.

Incidentally, Ancellotti is the third Italian linked with Madrid after Massimiliano Allegri joined Juventus and Antonio Conte in contention.

Marca suggest that other candidates running for the job include Paris Saint-Germain boss Mauricio Pochettino, Castilla’s leader Raul Gonzalez Blanco and Real Sociedad B’s Xabi Alonso.

However, the prospect of Ancelotti returning to Bernabeu is tempting. The three-time Champions League-winning boss has become an option for Los Blancos Florentino Perez having made initial contact.

Ancelotti was in charge at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu between 2013 and 2015, winning the Champions League in Lisbon in 2014.

He also won a Copa del Rey, Supercopa de Espana and a Club World Cup while at the club.
