Everton have been linked with a move for Dutch international Denzel Dumfries for weeks now, and it is believed they are now closing in on his signing.

According to Rudy Galetti, Everton and PSV Eindhoven are close to reaching an agreement for the 25-year-old defender.

The Premier League club are discussing personal terms with the player’s agent Mino Raiola.

Dumfries had an excellent season with the Dutch outfit last year, and he carried that form into the European Championships with the Netherlands.

He produced impressive defensive displays for his country during this summer’s tournament and chipped in with vital goals.

Everton desperately need a quality right-back who can replace Seamus Coleman, and Dumfries seems like the perfect fit.

The Toffees must sort out their vulnerable defence if they want to challenge for European qualification next season.

The signing of Dumfries would certainly improve them on the right-hand side of the pitch.

The Merseyside outfit already have a top-class left-back in Lucas Digne, and Rafa Benitez must now look to bring in a quality centre-back to partner Ben Godfrey.

The Toffees are being linked with Juventus defender Merih Demiral, and he would be a solid acquisition.
