Manchester City have confirmed their midfielder Javi Garcia has completed a permanent switch to Zenit St Petersburg on Thursday.
A statement on the Citizens official website read, “Spanish midfielder Javi Garcia has left City to join Zenit St Petersburg on a permanent basis.”
“Bringing an end to his two-year association with the club, the 27-year old links up with former Spurs manager André Villas-Boas at the Petrovsky Stadium.”
The 27-year-old arrived at the Etihad in the summer of 2012 as he was signed by the English champions’ former manager Roberto Mancini. However, the Spain international failed to make an impact for City in his debut season.
Last summer the Citizens current manager Manuel Pellgrini signed Fernandinho and further addition of his compatriot Fernando has seen him drop down the pecking order. Thus Garcia decided to end his time in England and agreed to leave City for Zenit.
