Fernando Torres finally looks set to leave Chelsea as AC Milan are closing in on the Spanish striker.
An agreement has been reached between the two clubs and the player is heading to Milan for his medical before the deal can be completed.
Chelsea already have a replacement lined up!
Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio is reporting that Chelsea want to bring in Queens Park Rangers striker Loïc Rémy as Torres’ replacement.
The French striker had been set to join Liverpool earlier this summer but failed his medical test. Arsenal did not go back in for the former Marseille hitman after the Gunners had previously been strongly linked to the 27-year old. Initially the north London club had refused to match the players’ wage demands.
Loïc Rémy has a €10 million release clause in his contract at Loftus Road allowing the Blues to purchase the highly-rated striker for a bargain price.
Rémy scored 14 goals in 26 Premier League appearances on loan at Newcastle United last season. This for a third choice, or potentially second choice striker ahead of Didier Drogba, but behind Diego Costa, seems like a very good move from manager José Mourinho.
Fernando Torres has only managed to score 20 times in 110 Premier League appearances as Chelsea’s sole striker since his move from Liverpool back in January 2011.
