Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s move to Manchester United is close to completion.
Borussia Dortmund have agreed to sell their Armenian playmaker after receiving a club record fee from Manchester United.
The Premier League giants have offered 42 million Euros for Mkhitaryan’s services. Dortmund’s previous record sale was that of their captain Mats Hummels to Bayern Munich this summer.
Mkhitaryan’s move to Manchester United should be made official soon.
The German club’s CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke hinted on Tuesday that Mkhitaryan will complete the move. Bild claim that the move will be officially announced next week.
The Bundesliga star had a phenomenal season last year and picked up 19 goals and 24 assists for Thomas Tuchel’s side.
With just 12 months left on his current contract, Dortmund have been forced to sell. The player and his agent refused to negotiate an extension and the club could not let him leave for free next summer.
The Germans are looking at Karim Bellarabi and Andre Schurrle as replacements for Mkhitaryan.
Mourinho should complete a deal for Zlatan Ibrahimovic as well, now that the Swedish striker is out of the Euros.
The Old Trafford giants have also been linked with Paul Pogba and James Rodriguez this summer.
Mkhitaryan will be a terrific signing for Manchester United. The likes of Mata and Rooney are simply not mobile enough to play centrally in a three man attacking midfield and this signing gives Mourinho the chance to operate with a variety of formations.
