Manchester United could finally complete the deal to sign Victor Lindelof from Benfica.
Expressen are reporting that Benfica have finally agreed to pay Vasteras their share of the fee and the player is now free to join Manchester United. Vasteras are entitled to 20% of a transfer fee as part of the deal which saw Lindelof go to Benfica, but the Portuguese giants were not willing to pay that and therefore the deal was being held up.
Earlier reports claimed that Manchester United had already agreed on a fee with Benfica for the player. So if the report from Sweden is true, the transfer should now be completed swiftly.
The Premier League giants are in need of a defender right now and signing Lindelof could be vital for their season. Apart from Bailly, none of the Manchester United defenders have impressed this season and the former Villarreal man is now away on international duty.
Lindelof could be the ideal replacement for Bailly in January and then a solid partner for him for the rest of this season. The Swedish international is regarded as one of the most talented young defenders around and his compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic also claimed a few weeks ago that Lindelof is ready to play for a big club.
