Zenit Saint Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel has reiterated his desire to play for Manchester United by claiming that he loves the Red Devils and sees himself playing for one of the best clubs in Europe soon.
Speaking to Tuttosport, the Belgian said, “The voices of the market? I know nothing. Sure, I love the Premier and the United ever since I was little. Sooner or later I want to play in one of the best clubs in Europe. I’m still young, I’ll see what the future holds.”
The 26 year old in an exclusive interview with Bleacher Report had earlier said, “I have always liked Manchester United from when I was young.”
Zenit had earlier signed Witsel for a whopping €40m from Benfica and has a contract with the Russian side till 2017. Reigning Serie A Champions Juventus are also interested in the Belgian but it is highly unlikely they can pay the required fee to secure Witsel’s signature.
United could well do with Wisel in the middle of the park given his imposing physical presence. Moreover the player’s ability to break down opposition attacks and immense passing range will come as a huge bonus for the Red Devils.
But will United make a move for the player given that they already have Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini and Daley Blind’s presence in similar positions?
