Zenit Saint Petersburg midfielder Axel Witsel has hinted on a summer transfer away from the Russian club. The Belgian who has been linked with Manchester United has been quoted by Italian media outlet Calciomercato saying on a potential transfer move to Juventus, “Juve? It ‘a possibility. We will see in the summer.”
The report has stressed that Witsel is now a concrete option for both United and the reigning Serie A Champions. Moreover the 26 year old has been identified by the Bianconeri as a possible heir to Paul Pogba who is expected to leave the Turin based side in the summer.
Zenit had earlier signed Witsel for a whopping €40m from Benfica and hasa contract till 2017. Witsel had earlier said in an interview with Bleacher Report, “I have always liked Manchester United from when I was young.”
Witsel was earlier close to join AC Milan when he was playing for Standard Liege in the Blegian Pro League. The report also claims that Juventus manager Max Allegri wants Witsel and the player could sign for the club given that his idol is Andrea Pirlo.
