hummelsManchester United’s hope of signing Mats Hummels has suffered a blow after Borussia Dortmund manager Jurgen Kloop has suggested the defender will be continue at Signal Iduna Park next season.

The Bundesliga giants’ boss also added another United target Marco Reus will also stay with the German club. Earlier it was reported that World Cup winning defender was set to join the Old Trafford club for a transfer fee of €20m.

However, Kloop has suggested the transfer fee mentioned in the recent rumours could see United forget about Hummels.

“I can assure everyone that there are no signs that those two players want to leave. Marco and Mats will play for us the next season,” Klopp said, as reported by the Guardian.

“What are we talking about today? Mats to Manchester United? For how much? €20m (£15.8m)? With those kind of sums can you forget that straight away,” Dortmund manager added.

The Red Devils allowed their two superstar central defending duo of Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand leave the club after the end of the last season. Their exits have seen United left with Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans as the only centre-backs in the squad.

Meanwhile, United are also linked with a move for Arsenal skipper Thomas Thomas Vermaelen. In addition to this, Feyenoord’s Stefan de Vrij is also on the Old Trafford club’s radar, reports the Manchester Evening News.
