Switzerland international Xherdan Shaqiri may leave Bayern Munich this summer.
Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has reported this evening that the German Bundesliga leaders may be willing to let the 22-year old leave on loan this summer.
Di Marzio does hint that Juventus could be the favourites with the Italian giants also strongly linked with a move for the Bayern Munich playmaker this summer.
Liverpool had previously been strongly linked with a move for Xherdan Shaqiri this summer and manager Brendan Rodgers had previously said he will be looking to make more transfers if possible before completing a deal for Mario Balotelli earlier today.
This news will surely catch the attention of Brendan Rodgers to add to his team. Di Marzio says that we can expect important news regarding Shaqiri in the coming days.
Xherdan Shaqiri first made his name as a teenager at FC Basel before Bayern Munich snapped him up in the summer of 2012. Opportunities, particularly starts have been limited for the young Swiss international at the Allianz Arena.
Shaqiri made 26 Bundesliga appearances in his debut season under Jupp Heynckes in 2012-13 – only 13 of these were starts.
Under Pep Guardiola last season, Shaqiri made 16 appearances in the German league last season of which only 10 were starts. The midfielder came on the final half hour in Friday night’s 2-1 win over VfL Wolfsburg to kick-off Bayern Munich’s 2014-15 season.
