Jose Mourinho could be looking to add a striker to his Inter squad in January, and his newest target, according to the Daily Mail, is Nicklas Bendtner?
According to the report from the Mail, Mourinho has been impressed by Bendtner’s strength and commitment. He likely won’t be supplanting Zlatan Ibrahimovic anytime soon, but he’s still a spry youngster at 20, and at 6’5, he’s got the kind of physical presence that fits well into a side in which the only striker that’s not at least 6’2 is Victor Obinna.
Bendtner has had some good moments with Arsenal, but he, along with William Gallas, reportedly aren’t positive influences in the dressing room, so this interest from Inter could be welcome news to Arsene Wenger’s ears.
While Wenger might not be too sad to see him go eventually, I won’t be surprised to see any offers rebuffed if they do come in. The chances of Eduardo making his return to Arsenal’s lineup sometime in January are looking good, but a dislocated shoulder could keep Theo Walcott out until at least February, if not longer.
So, Bendtner might not be going anywhere until at least the end of the season, unless the offer that comes in is just too good to pass up. In the meantime though, he needs to start scoring goals more often, as he has only one goal since September 23, form that certainly won’t earn him a regular place in Arsenal’s starting XI, much less a move to Inter.
