Juventus defender Daniele Rugani has struggled to cement his place in the first team this season.
The former Empoli defender has managed only two minutes of action, and yes you read that right, in the 2015/16 campaign so far.
As a result, he is now looking for a move and would hand in a transfer request. According to reports from Calciomercato, Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis wants to sign him in the January, and the Naples club are ready to offer €20m for his signature.
Andrea Barzagli, Giogio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonucci are above Rugani in the pecking orders and it is really hard for the former Empoli defender to play on a regular basis.
He is mainly considered as a back up option, but interestingly Juventus aren’t willing to sell him.
The report suggests that Rugani will be asking the club to allow him leave in January, but it seems Juventus won’t entertain such ideas – even a bid in the region of €20m won’t change that stance.
Rugani has been frequently linked with a move Premier League club Arsenal, while per Sport Witness, Manchester United have also shown an interest to sign him.
His case is an interesting one. Juventus probably consider him as a bright prospect but at the same time he needs to play regularly, something the Old Lady cannot offer at present.
It remains to be seen whether any major Premier League club comes up with a good offer for him. At this moment, a six-months-loan move elsewhere is the best possible solution for the 21-year-old defender.
