Arsenal are preparing to complete the signing of Petr Cech from Chelsea, according to reports from The Times.
David Ospina, the Arsenal goal keeper, is close to agreeing a £4m move to Fenerbahce, which will give Arsene Wenger the chance to push for a move for Cech.
According to reports in Turkey, Ospina, the Colombia player, who joined from Nice last summer, is expected to join the Istanbul club in coming days.
Ospina was brilliant last season for the Gunners, but Wenger does not want to miss the opportunity of signing Cech. It is just too tempting to turn down the chance.
Cech will be allowed to leave the club this summer after spending nearly a decade at the club. Jose Mourinho was initially reluctant to sell his star player to a direct rival, but The Times reports Cech was told that he will be permitted to join any club of his wish as a thank-you for his services.
French champions PSG have also registered an interest in Cech, but the goal keeper wants to stay in London instead. His family is well settled here and therefore he has no desire to leave.
Arsenal are confident of reaching an agreement with Chelsea for Cech, thought to be in the region of £9m. The North London club are also keen to bolster their midfield, with Morgan Schneiderlin, of Southampton, and Lars Bender, of Bayer Leverkusen, are under consideration.
Cech has few good years left in him and he will be a quality addition for the Gunners. He will bring his wealth of experience to this side and could be a leader in the dressing room. If the transfer talks go smoothly, Cech would likely to become the first major signing of the summer for Arsenal.
