Arsenal fans would have had a great night’s sleep after they beat reigning Champions Manchester City at the Etihad last night. And reports from Football Italia would make them even happier. The report cites Gazzetta Dello Sport claiming that Mattia Destro’s agent is set to fly to London today and hold talks with a possible transfer move.

The 23 year old has grown frustrated over the lack of game time in the Italian capital and might be interested to make away from Roma. Destro had earlier rejected a chance to join Torino last week. It was cited that Torino had made a bid of €15m for the striker which would ahve seen the Italian Destro join the club on loan for six months before being purchased outright in the summer.
Destro has featured in 17 appearances, 8 of which came from the bench, yet he has managed to hit the back of the net 5 times this season. The striker’s agent Claudio Vigorelli will meet with Arsenal in London today. After allowing to let go Yaya Sanogo and Lukas Podolski on loan earlier in January, the Gunners could well make a move for Destro. The former Chelsea target is valued at €16.5m as per Transfermarkt
Arsenal’s fierce cross town rivals Tottenham could also bid for Destro, and the report claims that Spurs have offered misfiring Roberto Soldado to Roma in exchange for the Italian.

Despite Danny Welbeck and Olivier Giroud in the squad, Destro would no doubt be a terrific signing for Arsenal. The youngster has enough talent to be an instant star and his uncanny ability to score at half chances could see Arsenal challenging for the title next season. Is Arsene Wenger listening?
