Reports from the trusted and reliable Italian media outlet TMW have cited FC Inter News that Inter Milan will look to sign Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski in January if the Nerazzurri fail to reach an agreement with Liverpool for Fabio Borini.
We have been reporting over the past few days that Inter would like to sign Borini on a loan deal with an option to buy in the summer. The club’s Sporting Director Piero Ausilio is also a big fan of the Italian but the Reds might not be willing to let Borini leave on a loan deal.
Thus Inter are taking no chances and have lined up Arsenal’s out of favour German forward Lukas Podolski. The 29 year old has hardly featured for the Gunners this season and the arrival of Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez has meant that he has fallen further down the pecking order at the Emirates.
Podolski’s contract expires in 2016 but he was close to leave the North London club in the summer. Reigning Serie A Champions Juventus were interested while he was also linked with Napoli. However, he stayed put at Arsenal but it will be sooner rather than later that he heads towards the exit.
Inter’s striking woes have been on display this season. Despite having the trio of Rodrigo Palacio, Dani Osvaldo and Mauro Icardi, the San Siro outfit have struggled to score. Thus manager Walter Mazzarri whose position is in doubt too is looking to sign a striker in the upcoming winter transfer window.
