With a little over than 36 hours left for the summer transfer window to slam shut, reports from London based newspaper West London Sport have come up with an interesting story. The report claims that Arsenal have  joined Chelsea in the race to sign QPR striker Loic Remy and have made an offer to activate the release clause of the French striker.

Former BBC journalist and now reporter at West London Sport also tweeted about the Gunners’ move for the 27 year old. The latest developments come as a major surprise as QPR manager Harry Redknapp confirmed that Chelsea were in pole position to land the player ahead of the club’s league game against Sunderland. Redknapp also explained why he left out Remy of the playing squad.

“The deal looks like it is probably done so I had to make a change in the team. He didn’t refuse to play or anything, but speaking to him it is difficult. If he is moving and signing for another team, it’s difficult to go out there and get your head around playing.”

Joe Mourinho also openly spoke about his intentions to land the striker after his side’s 6-3 win over Everton at Goodison Park.

“We are trying to get Remy. The information we have from specialists in different areas is that he doesn’t have a problem to play football.”

The player had earlier failed a medical at Liverpool and also rejected a permanent move to Newcastle on Friday.
