Reigning Spanish champions Real Madrid are on the brink of making their first winter signing this season as they have seemingly sealed a deal with Dutch powerhouse Ajax to recruit the highly rated striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar.
It has been widely reported by the Spanish press that the former 9 times European champions, who are enduring some torrid times at the moment, have more or less sealed the deal. It has been reported that Real Madrid and Ajax have held talks and that the player in question, Huntelaar, himself has given his nod to the move.
It has also been reported that the two former European champions have agreed on a £20million deal but so far this has been confirmed by neither of the parties. What has been confirmed though is that talks between the two clubs have indeed taken place and it is very much likely that Huntelaar would be moving to the Bernabeu in January.
A statement read: “Ajax are in talks with Real Madrid over the possible sale of Klaas Jan Huntelaar to the Spanish club. However no deal has been agreed at the moment.”
The 25-year old is injured at the moment but is expected to make his return in January, the same time when he shall be officially presented as a Real Madrid player. Huntelaar is a highly rated striker and was made the captain of Ajax earlier this season by club coach Marco van Basten.
Real are immersed in an injury crisis as several of their starting xi are injured. Even some key substitute players are also out of action. Real president Ramon Calderon had earlier promised that he would sign a couple of players who would be eligible to play in the UEFA Champions League and it appears that Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is one of them.
But who is the other one? Is it Hernan Crespo of Inter Milan?
