Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas has insisted that he is wishing to stay with Los Blancos amidst speculation that he will be replaced as the club’s first-choice goalkeeper by Thibaut Courtois during the upcoming season.
The 26-year-old Courtois has been strongly linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu. He has just one year remaining on his current contract with Chelsea and is one of the best keepers in the World. He shined for Belgium during the recent world cup and won the Golden Gloves award for best goalkeeper at the tournament.
Courtois is reportedly open to moving to Madrid. His children still live in the Spanish capital. In addition to this, Chelsea’s form over the past few years has been inconsistent. He could be tempted to move to Los Blancos as it could offer him a better opportunity to win silverware on a regular basis.
Navas who has served as Madrid’s first-choice goalkeeper since the departure of the legendary Iker Casillas has insisted that he wants to remain with the club.
He told La Nacion: “I am very happy. We will work hard, every day, and enjoy being at Real Madrid. I’m very calm. I still have two years of contract so I will focus on the coming season.
“I try to improve myself day by day and enjoy every moment. I always have the same enthusiasm and the desire to be competitive. I always want to win, and that’s something I will never lose.”
