Premier League giants Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal are set to battle Italian side Fiorentina for the signature of Sevilla defender Federico Fazio in the summer, claims talksport.
The 27 year old defender has been an integral part for Sevilla who are currently fifth in the La Liga standings. With 21 appearances for his club this season, Fazio has scored two goals and grabbed one assist.
His rise to prominence however came long back in 2007 with the U20 World Cup win in Canada for Argentina. A year later, he won the Olympic Gold Medal in Beijing for his national team that boasted the likes of Lionel Messi, Angel Di Maria, Sergio Aguero and Ezequiel Lavezzi. However the Sevilla star is yet to feature prominently in Argentina’s senior squad in the International stage.
Italian side Fiorentina are also interested in the Argentine whose current value stands at €6m according to Transfermarkt.
Fazio’s imposing presence at the back and his technical ability at the heart of defense had earlier attracted Barcelona with his team mate Diego Perotti (who is on loan to Boca Juniors) saying the defender was going to be one of the best in Europe.
But with the Catalan side being hit with a two year ban by FIFA, the is door open for the Premier League trio to battle it out for his signature.
