Philippe Coutinho - Liverpool FC

Manchester City midfielder Fernando has said that Liverpool’s attacking midfielder Philippe Coutinho is the “best Brazilian playing in Europe” at the moment. In a round about way it means Fernando rates Coutinho higher than Barcelona’s Neymar and Chelsea’s Oscar, both are widely known as world class attacking midfielders.

Fernando recently saw Coutinho producing devastating form for the Reds, as Liverpool beat Manchester city 2-1 at the Anfield.

‘I wanted to say ‘‘well done’’ to him after his winning goal,’ said Fernando as quoted by Daily Mail.

‘To me, he is the best Brazilian playing in Europe at the moment.”

Coutinho’s impressive form has seen seen being selected for the Brazilian national team. The 22-year-old was left out the Brazil’s World Cup squad last summer but has come back to contention under Dunga.

On the other hand, Fernando, who joined City in the summer, has yet to play for the Brazil senior team. The Brazilian midfielder has found life in the Premier League tougher than he expected, and says the language problem is proving to be a major hindrance for his development.
