Manchester United have yet to announce the deal officially, but according to widespread reports, the Red Devils have agreed a deal to sign Monaco’s highly rated youngster, Anthony Martial.

The 19-year-old has been allowed to leave the France national camp to join Manchester United yesterday, and he will be completing his medical today.

English press are confident that United have signed him for a reported fee of £36m (still a record signing for any youngster of his age), but French media, especially RMC, who first broke the news, are confident that the deal could rise up to €80m, that is around £58m.

Fomer Manchester United defender Phil Neville, who is now a coach at Valencia, feels that Martial would prove to be a better investment than Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani, who is a reported transfer target of Premier League giants Arsenal

“He was unplayable at times. He has strength, pace, everything you could look for. He kept drifting out to the left and causing us problems. He’s a proper centre-forward. Every time he got the ball your heart was in your mouth. He was really good in both games, especially at the Mestalla.

He’s a proper signing and I think he’s a better bet than spending the same on Edinson Cavani or someone similar,” said Neville as quoted by Daily Mail

Martial is yet to reach Cavani’s level yet, but the Monaco striker has every thing in place to become a world class player in future.

Cavani would cost around €42m (as per transfer market) and someone who would make an instant impact for his side. The Uruguayan is a proven striker who has scored goals at the highest levels. The comparison is therefore premature, but certainly Martial has the ability to reach that height.
