Juan Cuadrado, one of the stars for Colombia during the World Cup in Brazil, knows very well that his days at Fiorentina are numbered. But what he doesn’t know is where will he land up in the next couple of weeks before the transfer window slum shut.

The Guardian writer Jamie Jackson is confident that Manchester United have no interest what-so-ever in Cuadrado, but Catalan press think otherwise. For the past couple of months or so, they have been covering the Cuadrado saga almost on a daily basis. The reason being, Barcelona are involved in this transfer tug-of-war with Manchester United and thereby Catalan press have shown an extra level of interest in covering it. Let me jot down the scenario in three simple points.

    • Manchester United have already tabled an offer for Cuadrado. We reported last week, the Red Devils had offered better wage package and incentive for his agent as well.
    • Barcelona haven’t submitted a counter offer but are expected to do so shortly.
    • Fiorentina are demanding a price-tag in the region of €50m for the highly rated wing-back while the player is anxious to see his future decided at the earliest.

According to reports from Mundo Deportivo today, Cuadrado is being followed by an employee from Fiorentina, during the team’s stay in Spain for a pre-season tournament, in order to assure he doesn’t leak anything to the press. Fiorentina want to gain maximum profit out of this transfer and are playing a nice waiting game.

Barcelona are only willing to offer €40m for Cuadrado, who is seen as a long term replacement of Dani Alves. Manchester United cannot lure the player with Champions League football but are capable of attracting with better wage packages.
