Liverpool chief scout Julian Ward watched winger Antoine Griezmann last Monday according to Spanish newspaper Sport.
Liverpool have entered the race to sign French winger Antoine Griezmann after sending a scouting team to watch him in Real Sociedad’s 1-1 draw with Granada on Monday night.
Griezmann has been in excellent form this season, having scored 16 goals or Real Sociedad. The dynamic French winger has been a long term target of Premier League giants Arsenal.
During the January transfer window, Spanish journalist Alfredo Duro claimed while speaking on Spanish TV show ‘El Chiringuito’, that the Gunners had lodged a €14m bid for Real Sociedad attacker, which was rebuffed. Even Wenger admitted that he has been “following Antoine Griezmann for a long time”, during an interview with Telefoot.
However, it seems like Liverpool are showing serious interest in him. The Reds will return to the Champions league next season and will have the financial might to match his €30m release clause.
The 23-year-old comes with huge experience, having played more than 170 games in La Liga. He has mostly played on the left side, but he can play through the middle or on the right as well.
Rodgers recently insisted that Liverpool would need 5-6 top quality players next summer to compete on all fronts. However, they must move quickly, should they are serious in getting his signature.
