Arsenal have failed with a €14m bid for Real Sociedad attacker Antoine Griezmann, according to journalist Alfredo Duro (via the Daily Mirror).

Griezmann

Duro, who was speaking on Spanish TV show ‘El Chiringuito’, said that a bid was made by Arsenal, who are in need of an extra midfielder to offset the loss of Theo Walcott, who is out for the rest of the season.

Griezmann has had an excellent season so far in La Liga, and has been followed by the Gunners this winter, as we reported back in November. With 14 goals in 25 games, he has also reportedly caught the eye of Bayern Munich, but it seems Arsenal have made the first move.

Arsene Wenger has seemingly followed up his initial interest in the 22-year-old with a solid bid, but Real Sociedad are reportedly holding out for the full amount of his release clause, which is said to be €30m.

It looks like Wenger will have to significantly improve his initial bid, if the reports are true, to land the 22-year-old Frenchman.

What do you think? Will Wenger up his bid? Let me know in the comments below…
