Juventus chief Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed that Italian national team manager Antonio Conte is going to Chelsea this summer.
Conte is a massive fan favourite at Juventus and led them to three consecutive Serie A titles after taking over. Marotta has claimed that Chelsea’s decision to hire Conte proves that Juventus made the right call to hire him a few years ago.
Marotta explained that it was a very good decision to hire Conte from Siena and he is proud of it.
“The fact Antonio Conte is going to Chelsea just confirms that we made a good choice when we took him from Siena,” he said. “I am proud of this and for him.”
Conte will join up with the Chelsea squad after the Euros in France and will be expected to take them back to the Champions League.
Chelsea are currently 10th in the Premier League and are highly unlikely to finish in the top four.
The Italian will be the long term replacement for Jose Mourinho. Interim boss Guus Hiddink will leave at the end of this season.
According to earlier reports, Abramovich has already confirmed the move to the Chelsea players and Conte will be officially announced in July.
Conte is expected to earn around £20m over the duration of this three-year contract at Chelsea.
