There have been reports over the last few weeks that the former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has agreed a deal with Premier League giants Manchester United.
Spanish media claimed earlier that Mourinho to Manchester United is not yet official but the Portuguese has an agreement with the Red Devils.
Now the Inter Milan club director has confirmed the deal.
When asked if Mourinho was coming back to the San Siro, Moratti – who had just had lunch with the Portuguese manager – told reporters: “No, he’s happy now, he’s going to Manchester.”
She then added: “Of course he’s always fantastic and we missed him as a person here.”
Getting someone like Mourinho would be a huge coup for any club. Furthermore, the Portuguese manager has always been a keen admirer of United’s stature and considers it as a prestige job.
Mourinho was one of the candidates shortlisted to take over from Sir Alex Ferguson when the legendary manager retired. It seems Jose Mourinho might just get his wish this season.
Mourinho won the Premier League with Chelsea last season and could be the man to take Manchester United back to their former glories.
The Old Trafford outfit are struggling at the moment and Mourinho could provide much-needed confidence and belief for them to challenge for the title.
It will be interesting to see how the United fans react to the appointment of the outspoken Mourinho when and if the deal is made official.
