With Christmas season in full swing and a completely, utterly depressing past few weeks of sports news for me, (Roy Halladay being traded to the Phillies, Liverpool football club as a whole, rumours of Steven Gerrard being sold) I thought it would be nice to take a step back for a second and insert some temporary amusement into my life.
Along with the Christmas spirit comes the Christmas songs, movies and media alike, and working in a shopping mall, I’ve been hearing “Jingle Bell Rock” since about, oh, November 1st. It gave me the idea to compare footballers or football teams to Christmas characters and so that is what I have done in compile little list I like to call “If Footballers Were Christmas Characters…“
Here’s the list:
- Liverpool FC as Tiny Tim
- Didier Drogba as Frosty the Snowman
- Jermain Defoe as Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
- Rafael Benitez as Ebeneezer Scrooge
- Barcelona as Santa Claus
