EuroBall – Play and Win Tickets to Euro 2008

Being that I spend much of my day at the computer, it’s nice to have something to distract me from an article every now and then.

Not that I needed anything more to play to my slacker tendencies, but thanks to JVC (and Ahmed, who put it up on the site, in case you haven’t noticed), I have something to steal my brain for a half-hour, and European football fans have the chance to win prizes.

Without further ado, I present to you Euroball, a frantic 90 seconds of fun and frustration.

It brings that wondrous game of penny football to your computer, with a little Euro 2008 flair added.

The rules are simple, but the execution is another issue.

In short, the more goals you get, the higher your score is. But, if you lose, then you wind up with a negative score.

The object of the game (in case you’re unfamiliar with the rules) is to work the back coin through the other two coins and work yourself into a favorable shooting position, so that you can flick it across the line, past the ‘keeper,’ whose mission is to block your coins from sliding past and off of his end of the table.

You can’t take a shot ‘on goal’ until the keeper’s hands move into position, otherwise you’ll just smack it right off of the table. If you do smack it off of the table, anywhere, at any time, it counts as a goal for the opposition, which means a deduction of hundreds of points from your end score.

In this particular version, not only are you trying to get goals, but there are also special bonus areas on the left and right sides of the table that will help you out, from giving you extra time, bigger coins, shooting bonuses, and freezing the keeper to make things a lot easier for you.

At the end of the 90 (plus how many extra you give yourself) seconds, your score is tallied, and you have the option of entering in your score to be in consideration for prizes.

Now this is the good part – unless you live outside of Europe (so, me). If you’re lucky, you can win tickets to Euro 2008. Yes, the real Euro 2008.

JVC are giving tickets away every two weeks, and get this – the more people who play the game, the more tickets they’re going to give away.

And if you happen to stink at Euroball, or want to maximize your prize-winning potential, you can enter a draw for a JVC Home Cinema system, so if you don’t get a chance to watch Euro 2008 in person, you’ll get to watch it at home in style.

Even if you can’t win prizes, the game is still fun, and you can distract other people, not only by giving them the link to the full version, but also by adding a mini-version of the game on your blog or personal profile, where the object is to score ten goals as quickly as possible.

So, if you live in Europe, and want to have a chance to go to Euro 2008 without having to pay for your ticket, or if you just want to kick back for a few, head on over to EuroBall right now and get to playing. Or, if you want to get a few games under your belt before going with the full version, check out the mini at the bottom of SL’s home page.
