According to Spanish source, El Confidencial, Manchester United are close to signing Ajax goalkeeper, Jasper Cillessen.
Cillessen has been identified as an ideal replacement for David De Gea, who is strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid.
Manchester United signed Argentine goalkeeper, Sergio Romero earlier this week. It is believed that Romero is a replacement for the former Barcelona keeper, Victor Valdes, who has fallen out of favour with Louis Van Gaal.
Manchester United Transfer: De Gea departure likely?
Cillessen’ arrival at Manchester United will certainly raise considerable doubts over David De Gea’s future. The player has been linked with a move to Real Madrid and manager Louis Van Gaal hinted that United are prepared for his departure.
Manchester United Transfer: Cillessen to be cup tied?
Jasper Cillessen has travelled with Ajax for their Champions league qualifier and will be cup tied if he plays today.
However, reports suggest that Ajax have other alternatives for today’s game and might not use Cillessen if a transfer can be finalised.
According to El Confidencial, the Manchester United transfer is complete and the player has informed his teammates that he is joining Manchester United soon.
Cillessen has worked with Louis Van Gaal previously and is well aware of the Dutchman’s philosophy.
Manchester United Transfer: Underwhelming replacements?
Romero and Cillessen are all decent players who are good enough to make their mark in the Premier League.
However it has to be said that both are extremely underwhelming additions especially considering the player they might be filling in for.
