Chelsea have agreed a deal to loan the former Nantes defender Papy Djilobodji.
The Senegal international was signed for a fee of 2.7 million pounds last summer but has made just one appearance for the Premier league champions since then.
Despite Chelsea’s defensive woes the former Ligue 1 defender has not been given any chance to showcase his talent. The 26 year old had a brief cameo when he replaced Radamel Falcao during Chelsea’s 4-1 win against Walsall in the League cup.
Former Besiktas sporting director Sinan Engin has confirmed on Turkish TV that the Chelsea defender has already agreed a move to Turkey and a transfer should go through eventually.
According to the report, Chelsea are sending out the African on loan for the remainder of this season and the whole of next season.
Djilobodji signed for Chelsea on a four year contract and the Blues might be finding it difficult to offload the towering defender permanently just yet.
Chelsea are severely lacking in defensive depth and if they are willing to get rid of the former Nantes man, one can only assume that they have something lined up to fill the void.
The Premier league giants are expected to strengthen their side in January and it will be interesting to see if Mourinho has planned any defensive signings.
