Boca Juniors striker Jonathan Calleri is close to joining SerIe A club Inter Milan, according to club president Daniel Angelici.

The 22-year-old played a major role is guiding Boca to a Premier Division title in 2015, scoring 10 times in 25 matches for the Argentine giants.

Boca president Angelici has confirmed that the deal is close now, it is only a matter of time, before it is sealed.

“For Calleri we are asking for all of the documentation that UIF needs for the origin of money,” Angelici said, as quoted by ESPN

“The negotiations are very advanced and this week we will close the deal.”

Calleri has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League giants Chelsea in recent months.

Back in November, French newspaper L’Equipe claimed that Chelsea had agreed a £6m deal for the 22-year-old striker.

Reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano also added that the transfer was close to happening.

Argentine media, Play Futbol, claimed that the striker was advised to go to Italy to accelerate the process of getting the EU passport, in order to secure his move to England.

The player himself admitted last month that he would love to play in the Premier League, with Chelsea his preferred destination.

It seems, with the departure of Jose Mourinho, Chelsea’s interest in Calleri have cooled down. It has opened the door for Inter Milan, who are now on the verge of sealing a deal for the highly rated Argentine striker.

Calleri also revealed last month that he would discuss terms with the Serie A leaders Inter Milan, after the two clubs had reached an agreement.
