Chelsea have had a poor start to the season by their standards and Antonio Conte is already looking to strengthen his side once again this season.
As the Blues begin to prepare for the January transfer window, we look at some of the latest Chelsea transfer news.
AC Milan plotting January move for Michy Batshuayi
Italian giants, AC Milan, are looking to add to their squad during the January transfer window and have identified Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi as a target according to Mirror.
The Belgian striker has struggled to break into Conte’s starting lineup so far and is likely to play the role of an impact player unless Costa picks up an injury in the near future. The Spanish international has been in outstanding form this season and is clearly Chelsea’s best player right now.
Batshuayi was signed for a fee of 33 million pounds from Marseille during the summer transfer window. Costa had a poor season by his standards last year, and the Blues wanted to add some depth and quality to the position.
So far, Batshuayi has shown that he is good enough to start for Chelsea. The Belgian has impressed with his cameos and his performances in cup games. It will be interesting to see if his situation changes after the international break. The Belgian 23-year-old has played just 53 minutes in the Premier League so far and needs to play more first team football in order to fulfill his potential.
If Conte cannot provide him with more first team action, it would be wise for the player to consider a move away. Chelsea are unlikely to sell him, but a loan move is definitely possible if Batshuayi forces the issue.
Chelsea not looking to sell defender Andreas Christensen
Meanwhile, the highly talented Andreas Christensen is attracting interest from the likes of Barcelona with his splendid performances. The Chelsea defender is on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach and has been one of the best centre-backs in Bundesliga over the past few months.
Daily Mail are reporting that Bayern and Manchester City are monitoring the player as well and the Danish international will be a man in demand when his loan spell with Monchengladbach comes to an end in the summer.
However, Chelsea have decided that they will not sell him and Conte plans to integrate him into their first team next season. The 20-year-old has the potential to become a world-class player in the future and it makes sense for the Blues to hold on to him.
Christensen ended up being Monchengladbach’s player of the year last season and the German club are ready to pay a club record fee to sign him. But the player has three years left on his Chelsea contract and the Blues will not sanction a sale.
The Denmark star joined Chelsea from Brondby back in 2012 and is expected to partner the highly talented Kurt Zouma at the heart of Conte’s defence for years to come.
Chelsea ready to sell Nemanja Matic to Juventus
Italian newspaper Tuttosport are reporting that Chelsea are open to the idea of selling Nemanja Matic. The Serbian has been struggling to replicate his 2014/15 form and has been a liability for his side at times.
The Italian publication claims that Chelsea will sanction a sale if Juventus offer around 20-25 million Euros. According to the report, Allegri sees Matic as an ideal addition to his midfield. Furthermore, they also add that Matic is not considered as an irreplaceable asset at the London club and they could sell him as early as January if a proper offer arrives.
With Kante in the side now, Chelsea could definitely use a more creative midfielder instead of Matic. If they do plan to sell him, it would be interesting to see who they replace him with.
The Blues are in desperate need of a defender and a central midfielder come January.
