Chelsea defender Papy Djilobodji is set to join German side Stuttgart on an 18-month loan deal this month.

The former Nantes defender has failed to make his mark at Chelsea and played just one minute in English football, as a substitute in a cup game.

Djibodji was signed for £2.25m during the summer transfer window deadline day after the Blues failed to agree on a deal for Everton defender John Stones.

The Premier League champions were rebuffed time and again in their attempts to land the highly talented England defender.

After his signing, Jose Mourinho claimed the Djilobodji was not his choice and then sensationally left him out of the Champions League squad.

Djilobodji’s only appearance was off the bench in the last minute against Walsall in the Capital One Cup.

French newspaper L’Equipe claims the Djilobodji is set to be loaned to the Bundesliga for 18 months.

The 27-year-old is looking to play regularly and move away from Chelsea is ideal for him. Hiddink is unlikely to include the defender in his plans and Chelsea are clearly looking to get him off their wage bill as well.
