Chelsea have agreed a deal for future Brazilian superstar Taison from Metalist Kharkiv.
The Brazilian recently confirmed he was in talks with the West London side after they agreed a fee with the Ukrainian club thought to be in the region of £11 million.
Taison has been playing his football in Ukraine for the last two years after he left his home land, Brazil, in 2010. He played 136 games for the Brazilian club, Internacional, with 20 goals before a more prolific spell at Metalist Kharkiv; 13 goals in 57 games.
He becomes the latest Brazilian sensation to join the Champions League holders following the arrival of Oscar last summer. Chelsea have also been long term hunters of another Brazilian wonder kid, Neymar.
Taison is one of the most versatile attacking players that Chelsea could have targeted as he can play down either wing, in a central attacking position or up front as a main striker. It is a massive giveaway sign that Chelsea are looking to maintain their style of flooding their attack with small play makers who are all extremely talented on the ball.
This is a move which has been criticised due to the physical nature of the Premier League but a tactic which more and more top European sides are mirroring, based on the successful Barcelona side of the last few years.
Despite his impressive career records at Internacional and Metalist Kharkiv, he is yet to make his debut for the Brazilian national team.
If the fee being mentioned in latest reports is accurate then it will mean Metalist are set to make a profit of £9 million plus add-ons having originally signed the player for just under €3 million (roughly £2.43 million).
If the deal goes through without a hitch then Taison will become Chelsea’s second January signing following Demba Ba from Newcastle United.
