According to reports from the Daily Mail, Aston Villa are considering making a move for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips following their promotion to the Premier League.

Dean Smith’s side booked a place in next season’s top flight after winning the Championship play-off final on Monday, with a 2-1 victory against Derby at Wembley.

While Villa will be looking to keep hold of their star players (especially the loan signings), Smith will definitely want to bring in quality players into the side necessary to compete at the highest level.

The report claims that Smith is looking at dynamic, young, and hungry players and it has led to Villa taking a look at the Leeds midfielder who enjoyed a fantastic 2018-19 campaign under Marcelo Bielsa.

The 23-year-old was ever present for Leeds last season, making 44 appearances in the Championship. He took his game to the next level under the guidance of the Argentine and has established himself as perhaps the most important player for Leeds.

While Leeds will be reluctant to lose him, Villa can tempt him with regular Premier League football. Some Villa fans have taken to social networking site Twitter to express their reaction on the club’s interest in Phillips, and we get a mixed response.

Many Villa fans believe that Phillips is a class player and the club should make a move for him this summer. However, there are some who are opposed to this idea as they feel Villa should be aiming higher.
