Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka. The Gunners are in talks with the Swiss international, per Sky in Germany.

Xhaka’s father reportedly met with Arsene Wenger, who is ready to pay a fee of around €43m for his services. Simon Jones of the Daily Mail notes:

“Reports in Germany on Tuesday claimed a £33million fee has been agreed with wages of around £6.35million a year, or £122,000 a week, though Arsenal have not confirmed any talks.”

Xhaka joined Monchengladbach four years back, and he is contracted to the German club until 2019. Wenger is under pressure, and a large section of Arsenal fans have called for his resignation, but the Frenchman is already planning for next season.

Arsenal are well stocked in their midfield department, but with both Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosicky struggling with injuries and likely to leave the club in the summer, Xhaka could be seen as an ideal replacement.

Xhaka is already a regular Swiss international, and he is expected to feature prominently for his country in the Euro 2016. Premier League giants Liverpool are also thought to be interested in the midfielder, but it seems the Gunners have stolen a march on their rivals.

French champions Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in Arsenal right back Hector Bellerin, according to reports from Le 10 Sports.

PSG are looking to sign a right back in the summer, with Serge Aurier and Gregory van der Wiel tipped for the exit door, and Bellerin has emerged as their prime target for next season.
