Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Borussia Monchengladbach defensive midfielder, Granit Xhaka.

It is understood that Arsene Wenger is really keen on signing the highly talented midfielder and has already met with his agent as well as his father to discuss a summer move.

German paper BILD have also claimed (via SportWitness) that Arsenal are ready to break the bank for the Bundesliga star and could offer up to 50 million Euros for the Gladbach midfielder.

Arsenal have had a catastrophic season since the turn of the year and have recently crashed out of the FA Cup, Champions  olux League and the Premier League title race. Despite a good start to the season, the Gunners have once again failed to sustain their title challenge.

Apart from a dip in form, Arsenal’s decline is also down to injuries and the lack of squad depth. Every season Arsenal seem to suffer the same kind idm of injuries and yet Wenger never adds considerable depth during the transfer windows.

It is understood that the Arsenal hierarchy are keen to spend a lot of money this summer and Wenger is prepared to spend idm a chunk of his budget on Xhaka.

Bild claim that the transfer fee for Xhaka is going to be around €43m. Arsenal will also pay a €5m signing on fee for Xhaka himself, and a further €2.3m payable to the midfielder’s agent.

The player is expected to earn around €8m per season at Emirates.

Earlier this season Xhaka hinted that he might make a move to England. He also joked about taking Coquelin’s shirt number when he joins Arsenal.

Xhaka has been linked with a move to Liverpool over the last few weeks as well.
