Horse Racing Betting Tips for Tuesday November 2nd
REDCAR STARTING PRICES
Low draws traditionally enjoy an advantage at Redcar, especially on the straight course, and that’s certainly been the case at recent meetings. The track stages it’s final fixture of the 2021 season today and keeping those berthed low on our side is again the angle. The current favourite in the 7f opener (12.05) – John & Thady Gosden’s STORM CASTLE – has stall 11 of 14 to overcome and looks worth opposing with GRAND LIBYA (stall 2) who ran a promising race at Yarmouth on his debut when a 66-1 seventh of 12. He was very green that day, like most progeny of first-season sire Churchill (he’s only been responsible for one debut winner) and has already been attracting some cash in the morning market. Strong favourite DREAM SHOW (stall 4 of 13) is harder to oppose in the 12.40, though KING OF TONGA, trading at around 11-10 for the seller (1.10), isn’t sure to appreciate the soft ground and could be another vulnerable favourite. I did consider a sell of the SpreadEx ‘DOUBLE DRAW’ market, though the draw might not be as important in the later races on the round course and we might get a few high-drawn winners. Given the propensity of outsiders who are well drawn in the straight-track races it might be worth a small buy of STARTING PRICES instead. Aggregate SPs made up at 112.5 at this meeting on similar ground in 2018 thanks to a host of big-priced winners (40-1, 33-1 and 14-1) and there were also shocks in 2017 (including 33-1), again on soft ground, and in 2015 (including 28-1). At the time of writing the market was set at 62-65.
Recommendation: Buy STARTING PRICES at Redcar
EXETER 1.55
MOONLIGHTER went close in this race last year, finishing second by a neck after making the running and her rarely runs a bad race in small fields. He landed a competitive handicap chase on heavy ground at Sandown in February and if he improves for the wind operation he might be able to build on last season’s efforts. HITMAN has obvious form claims but plenty of second-season chasers have been taken out of their comfort zone when reappearing in this race and he looks short enough. Back Moonlighter at 11-1 in the SpreadEx fixed odds betting or buy at 11 in the 50-25-10 spread market.
Recommendation: Back MOONLIGHTER in Exeter 1.55
EXETER 2.25
ASK A HONEY BEE is very consistent when racing below Class 1 level as he does here, recording form figures of 11112212 (5-8), with the latest defeat by just one length on his chase debut. His consistent profile suggests that he’s worth a buy at 27 in the SpreadEx 50-25-10 race market.
Recommendation: Buy ASK A HONEY BEE in Exeter 2.25
