That is according to The Telegraph journalist Jason Burt who provided the update on Twitter.

Everton and Benitez have been in talks for several days now, but the fans have been openly against the move, with some making their grievances known with abusive messages on the Goodison Park gates.

However, Everton owner Farhad Moshiri has ignored their protests and is now set to go ahead with the unpopular appointment.

The former Liverpool manager has been out of work since leaving the Chinese Super League in January but will now manage his fourth club in the Premier League.

Benitez managed Chelsea and Newcastle United in the English top-flight after leaving Anfield and has since overseen Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Napoli.

While Everton fans are not excited by the prospect of having the Liverpool hero in their dugout, he brings ample experience to the table and could take them to the next level.

Ronald Koeman, Sam Allardyce, Marco Silva and Carlo Ancelotti have all failed to deliver during their managerial tenures, with the Toffees underperforming despite spending plenty of money in the transfer windows.

Benitez is next, and all eyes will be on him the moment he steps into Goodison.
