Barcelona v Valencia
La Liga
Camp Nou – Barcelona, Spain
14 March 2010 – 18:00 GMT
Barcelona looks to go top of La Liga table as they host third place Valencia on Sunday, March 14, 2010.
Barcelona v Valencia Preview
Barcelona is in second place on goal difference heading into the after last weekend’s 2-2 draw at Almeria. Valencia are in third in the La Liga table, 15 points behind Barcelona.
Both teams will be without players due to suspensionl; Zlatan Ibrahimovic for Barcelona, and David Navarro and Carlos Marchena for Valencia. Barcelona has a strong 8-4-1 record on the road while Valencia are 6-5-1 at home.
Valencia has struggled to get wins at home but do have one of the best strikers in La Liga, David Villa. He leads the club with 17 goals in league play while Lionel Messi leads Barcelona with 19 goals. Barcelona has the second leg of the UEFA Champions League against Stuttgart on Wednesday so its possible they might rest a few players. Valencia is too far back to catch Barca or Real Madrid but can keep their third place if they are able to get at least a draw on Sunday.
After a drop in form in recent weeks, Barcelona should be refocused and get the win at the Camp Nou. Even with the Champions League match coming up, most of the top players should start and be enough to get the three points. Valencia has shown they can beat anyone in La Liga but they will struggle to get a win on Sunday.
