Germany vs Chile Preview, Possible Lineups & Key Stats ahead of the Confederations Cup 2017 final on Sunday.
The Confederation Cup has seen some stunning goals, a host of talented stars and a lot of grit. On Sunday, the competition will draw to a close when Germany and Chile meet each other in the final of the competition. The two teams, in fact, did meet each other in their journey to the final when they played out a 1-1 draw in Saint Petersberg.
It’s a competition between the young and the experienced. Germany are the youngest team in Russia this summer. They put on their most convincing display in the semi-final, when they dismantled Mexico 4-1 to advance. Chile, on the other hand, have the oldest average age in the competition. They had to push Portugal out in through penalties to reach the final.
Chile and Germany have both managed to dominate football in the last few years. Chile have managed to win two Copa America titles. Germany lifted the World Cup in Brazil in 2014 and are working towards defending that in Russia next summer.
Chile seem to be peaking at the business end of the tournament. The issue, however, remains the lack of sharpness in front of goal. What is encouraging is that the semi-final performance against Portugal over 120 minutes was full of energy and high-tempo. They’re certainly up for the test the young German side puts.
Germany’s attack remains their strength and as a team, they have found the right balance. The cohesion and teamwork when they play are visible.
