Raheem Sterling has taken centre stage in this year’s Premier League transfer drama. The Liverpool youngster has decided to leave the club and pursue his goals elsewhere.
Several clubs including the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester City. Arsenal and Manchester United have sounded out their interest in the former QPR academy graduate.
According to reports yesterday, Sterling was on Guardiola’ personal wishlist, but the England man is not keen to play abroad just yet. It is believed that Sterling wants to stay in England, and play closer to home.
Sterling grew up around London and has family there. It is understood that the Liverpool winger is desperate to join a London club, with Arsenal being his desired destination.
However, following the appointment of Rafa Benitez at Real Madrid, it is believed that the Spanish giants have now entered the race of Raheem Sterling.
The former Liverpool manager signed Sterling for Liverpool and is now keen to reunite with the talented attacker at the Bernabeu. Benitez’ hands on approach was key to signing Sterling back in 2010 and their connection could help Real Madrid as far as a transfer is concerned.
With the increasing number of top clubs interested in Sterling, it is bad news for Liverpool who are nowhere close to agreeing terms with the player or his agent.
Manager Brendan Rodgers has stated that the player will see out his current deal at Anfield, but the general consensus around the club is that the hierarchy will accept an offer of around 40 million pounds.
