Liverpool are closing in on their fourth major signing of the summer, with Benfica winger Lazar Markovic photoed en route to Anfield today.
The 20-year-old winger is expected to complete a £25m move to the Premier League side in coming few days, with the Serbian taking both his brother and agent with him to Liverpool on Saturday, where he is rumoured to be ready for a medical at the club.
Liverpool are moving fast to offset the loss of star striker Luis Suarez to Barcelona, with the £75m received for the Uruguayan reportedly available in full for manager Brendan Rodgers.
Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic, who played with Markovic at Benfica before last January, said on Wednesday: “What can I say about our Markovic? It was excellent playing with this fantastic kid for six months.
“He has such massive potential that if he changed his attitude in training he could be one of Europe’s best players in his position.”
The Chelsea man believes that under the right tutelage, the 20-year-old will blossom into an unstoppable force for the Reds:“But he’s young, he’ll mature, and then nobody will be able to stop him!”
