Liverpool are looking increasingly likely to land Barcelona goal keeper Victor Valdes within this month. Simon Mignolet, the first choice goal keeper, has cut a frustrating figure this season and many pundits see him as the weak link in the Liverpool squad.
Valdes, a free agent, was on the verge of joining Monaco, but a serious knee injury meant the deal was put off. He is now focussing on regaining his full fitness and wants to start playing again with Liverpool could be his likely destination.
Mundo Deportivo has published an article on Valdes today where they claim the 32-year-old has kept himself isolated from his fellow Barcelona team-mates and even his fans, as he is solely concentrating on his recovery.
He underwent a surgery in Germany and returned quickly to Barcelona only to understand that Monaco had pulled the plug in the deal. He went back to Germany again to further his treatment, and now he simply wants to get himself into a good shape so that he can pass the medical tests and join Liverpool.
Mundo claim that he barely keeps in contact with other Barcelona players and other friends. English press are claiming that he would join Liverpool within next 15 days, but in order to do so, he needs to prove his fitness first. Hope he does, as he is a fantastic player and would be a brilliant signing for the Reds.
