Spanish newspaper Sport reported earlier this week that Jose Mourinho would be given a massive transfer war-chest, should he take charge at Manchester United next summer.
The former Chelsea boss has reportedly made a rough planning about what type of players he would bring to Old Trafford. Sport claims that Mourinho wants to bring world class players from his former club Real Madrid to Manchester in the summer. He is planning to sign Luka Modric, Gareth Bale and Raphael Varane from Madrid, and has reportedly spoken with them as well over a possible transfer move.
Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane however has warned interested parties that Varane will not be sold as he sees the young French defender as “the future of the club”.
Mourinho signed Varane from Lens in 2011 when he was in charge of Real Madrid, and the Portuguese is reportedly interested in signing the €30m-rated defender again, should he replace Van Gaal at United.
Zidane, however hopes that Varane would reject all temptations thrown at him, and continue his progress at the Bernabeu.
“Of course it is normal Mourinho would want to sign Raphael,” Zidane said as quoted by ESPN.
“He knows him well, he brought him here to the club. But I want Varane to stay in Madrid. He is the future of the club.”
Varane, 22, has already established himself as one of the finest defenders in the world at the moment and he would improve any team in the world including Manchester United. Mourinho, should he become the next manager, would definitely try to lure the Frenchman away from Madrid, but whether Los Blancos would be willing to sell is an entirely different question.
