Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini believes that Paulo Dybala has the talent to match the standards set by Lionel Messi.
The 21-year-old forward is currently one of the hottest properties in European football having netted 12 times in 25 games for his Italian club this season.
“For me, Dybala is the Messi of the future,” Zamparini told Radio Anch’io. “I value him at €40m (£28.5m), but we will have to wait and see what happens at the end of the season.
“There has been a lot of talk about Dybala, but his agent is just doing his work. I have a good relationship with him.
“The transfer fee we will receive for Dybala will be reinvested. We have an ongoing project. Even if Dybala were to leave, other important players will arrive.”
Arsenal are thought to be one of the many interested clubs vying for his signature.
Zamparini has made it clear that he expects Dybala to leave the club but won’t sell him anything less than €40m.
While Arsenal will be looking to sign quality defenders next summer, it remains to be seen whether Wenger turns his attention to bolstering the forward department and therefore on Dybala, as the Gunners already have an avalanche of attacking players in their ranks.
